Does having a Visa or MasterCard debit card matter?
Visa and Mastercard are largely electronic payment networks and do not have a direct role in issuing debit or credit cards. The credit card that you may have in your pocket is issued by
your bank. All the payment terms and conditions like interest rates, card fees, rewards and other features are all fixed by the bank. Electronic payment companies like Visa and Mastercard charge merchants and banks for accepting their card as a method of payment. This is the reason one bank may issue cards with a MasterCard logo only while another may be issuing Visa cards.
As you might know, Visa and MasterCard enable card transactions around the world and don’t issue cards. They partner with banks who issue cards. There is hardly any difference between Visa and MasterCard as both are accepted across 200 countries. According to data that is available, these cards accepted at over thirty million locations worldwide. So, you should be looking at the features offered by your Credit Card rather than looking at whether it is from Visa or MasterCard. Want a Credit Card? Click here.
