Insurance for Ayurvedic treatment

Can i get a health insurance plan which will allow be protection if i undergo Ayurvedic treatment?

Health Insurance plans now do cover ayurvedic treatments. Take the case of AYUSH. AYUSH is abbreviation for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. The Government of India set up the Department of AYUSH in 2003 to promote traditional medicine. The department paved the way for the formation of the Ministry of AYUSH in 2014. The Ministry of AYUSH has control over various institutes and research councils related to alternate medicine.

One major advantage of AYUSH treatment is that the cost is low. After AYUSH became a part of the central government, it has become easy for insurance companies in India to provide coverage for alternate medicine. Also, in the year 2012-2013, IRDA (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority) had asked Health Insurance companies to provide coverage for alternate medicine. Here are some the policies that cover treatment under AYUSH.

However, many policies still don’t offer coverage for alternate medicine. Most of the policies have certain conditions that customers have to meet before they can claim such benefit. Also, there is a limit on the amount they will receive when they make a claim. It is advisable that policyholders read the policy carefully and understand all the terms and conditions before making a claim for alternate treatment.
